This month, we’re proud to feature Marvin Fiberglass Windows — built to perform in the toughest conditions while delivering exceptional style and efficiency.
Built to Withstand the Elements
Fiberglass stands up to harsh weather and requires almost zero maintenance. Unlike other materials, it won’t expand or contract with temperature changes — helping resist leaks, seal failures, and long-term wear. That means reliable performance for years to come.
For March, we are specifically featuring fiberglass windows from the:
Marvin Elevate Collection
Marvin Essential Collection
Both collections showcase the strength and durability of high-density fiberglass, including Marvin’s proprietary Ultrex® material.
Why Choose Marvin Fiberglass Windows & Doors?
Not all composites are created equal. Marvin fiberglass is manufactured using lineal fiberglass and thermoset plastics — a combination that sets it apart from composites made with sawdust, vinyl, and other low-cost alternatives.
The Facts About Fiberglass:
Exceptional energy efficiency
Superior strength and durability
Resists expansion and contraction
Low maintenance performance
Stronger and more stable than vinyl
More resilient than rolled aluminum
When comparing materials, fiberglass consistently rises to the top for performance, longevity, and long-term value.
Endures harsh weather conditions and climates with minimal wear and tear over time
Virtually maintenance free
Provides exceptional structural strength, ensuring windows and doors open and close easily for years to come
Does not expand and contract with dramatic changes in temperature, making the product resistant to leaks, seal failures, and stress cracks
When combines with energy-efficient glass options, fiberglass keeps the indoors comfortable regardless of what's happening outdoors

Program Title: The Mill at Prattville: A Case Study in Adaptive Re-Use Credit: 1 LU/HSW
AIA Course #: THEMILLCS25
Course Description: This case study explores the restoration and repurposing of an 1850s mill into a modern apartment complex, sparking economic growth and revitalization within the greater Prattville community.
With seven historic brick structures on site, the design team navigated multiple layers of requirements—from design and financing to floodplain mitigation and National Park Service approvals. The project thoughtfully balances old, new, refurbished, and original elements, carefully revealing the historic character of the buildings while illustrating their evolution.
Special focus will be given to the fenestration solutions, highlighting the planning, research, design, execution, and key decision-making factors involved in repairing versus replacing windows.

Why Black Walnut:
Black Walnut is a premium North American hardwood known for its deep chocolate brown heartwood and natural elegance. Its rich color and distinctive grain pattern make it a standout choice for high end projects where appearance matters. Beyond its visual appeal, Black Walnut offers excellent strength, dimensional stability, and good natural resistance to decay. It machines and carves smoothly, sands easily, and finishes beautifully, often requiring little to no stain to achieve a refined look. Clear coats, oils, and natural finishes enhance its depth and warmth while allowing the character of the wood to shine through.
Black Walnut is commonly used in cabinetry, built ins, interior millwork, and trim accents, as well as custom furniture and floating shelves. It also performs well in decorative applications such as accent walls, bar tops, countertops, and specialty components. Because of its premium appearance and reliable workability, it remains a favorite material in residential remodeling, custom woodwork, and higher end interior design projects where both durability and aesthetics are important.
